Presented by: Fletcher Sandbeck, Cumuli Inc.
Waterfall and Agile are methodologies for programming delivery that have a common intent: to get the project done with the best possible outcome. Along the way, each method uses a different approach to continuous delivery and each has is merits and place, depending on your scope and the nature of the relationship with the client you are delivering for.
Fletcher's talk will discuss an overview of these approaches and some tips for how to structure you programming project for the best outcome (delivery)and to be paid along the way!
Technologies discussed will include LassoSoft's cloud licensing for Lasso, Amazon's EC2 virtual servers and load balancing, RDS database service, CloudFront content delivery network (CDN), and OpsWorks deployment system. Although Amazon's technology will be used for examples the principles discussed should apply to other cloud systems and to virtual systems used by familiar Lasso hosting services.

introduction to the concept of Test Driven Development and how to write tests for Lasso 9 code using lspec.
About: Brad Lindsay graduated from Wheaton College in 2003, majoring in both Computer Science and Theology. He began work with the North Carolina Hospital Association in 2006, and it was here that he was required to learn Lasso. He quickly discovered that not only is Lasso a great tool for creating websites, but it has a wonderful community willing to share their knowledge and experience. Brad is currently a Certified Lasso Developer, a Lasso Beta Tester, and has worked to help document Lasso 9. He is also the creator and maintainer of lspec and query.
Lasso is a very capable tool with an amazing skill set built in. But from time to time arises a need to perform some kind of action that Lasso falls short on. To the rescue comes Sys_Process. Allowing you to call any command the operative system provides. In this presentation we will examine:
Plenty of real life examples (Manipulate images, Send files to printer, Send email using OS provided mail app etc)
About: Jolle Carlestam is a highly experienced Lasso 9 developer working with Lasso 9 since it's Alpha stage. A significant contributor of many of the Lasso 9 specific types and methods on Tagswap, he has won the Lasso Values award at the 2012 LDC. Jolle has contributed substantially to the community via Lasso list and the Lasso documentation. And he has a very nice sense of humor that's not quirky at all.

Cloud computing is the name given to a set of technologies which make serving web sites more flexible by hosting virtual servers on shared hardware. Web hosting is increasingly moving from a model of dedicated hardware to cloud servers. In addition, services such as content delivery networks, shared storage, centralized databases, and workflow management services are increasingly offered through the cloud.
Fletcher's talk will discuss how he has used Amazon's AWS cloud computing resources in concert with both cloud-based hosting and dedicated hosting of Lasso Servers in order to migrate to a more stable, load balanced, and speedy web hosting platform. He will show how individual cloud technologies can be used with an existing site and also how a site can be served entirely using cloud resources.

Steffan Cline will be presenting an overview of these programming methodologies, what their foundations are, and what are the strengths and potential weaknesses of each. This talk will provide the knowledge to discuss your method and approach with potential clients, and coders understand the foundations that may have impacted their development style.
About: Steffan Cline is a highly skilled Lasso Developer, owner of ExecuChoice Software Development and a Lead Engineer at CenturyLink™. He has a wealth of knowledge and has conducted roundtables at several past Lasso conferences, provided free Lasso based solutions to the community for years and has been using Lasso since version 3.
Facilitated by: Chris Corwin
CSS is a powerful technology, allowing developers to define the look of a website with great precision. As the web has matured our clients, customers, and users have grown to expect increasingly complex applications, placing more demands on developers and designers. In response, the CSS we are required to write can become unwieldy to the point of messiness. Dynamic stylesheet languages like LESS, combined with good developer tools, can help.
Chris's talk will give an overview of the LESS stylesheet language, will provide examples of what LESS is capable of, and will go into a workflow to build and deploy your CSS files using less, as well as how to debug your LESS files right in the browser. Some compare and contrast with SCSS will also be in store.
Software used in the talk, should you wish to be prepared to follow along:
About: Chris Corwin began working with Lasso in 1999, working for various small web design firms until 2009 when he sold out to the man and went to work for The Finish Line as an ecommerce developer. His current work focuses on front-end development deployed on an ATG Web Commerce stack.
Presented by Brad Lindsay, CLD
and Jolle Carlestam, CLD
